This is the story of a very loved little girl whose life was turned upside down by being taken to a Doctor for a second opinion. This is the story of the fight against CPS and being guilty until proven innocent. This is a story of hope, love and the perserverance of parents who will never give up...no matter what the odds. This is the story of Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

Tears Of Joy
Overwhelmed. This time the overwhelmed emotion is not sadness, anger, or fear. This time it is pure joy.
Today, CPS met to review Averys case and decide if they needed to continue involvement or if they needed to drop the charges. I received a call and felt fear. However, the call brought tears of joy to my eyes.
The case is closed. The investigation is over. We are a family, again. As soon as the state attorney signs off on the paperwork we are done with all involvement. Pray for a speedy closure so we can swiftly begin the process of moving to a location with better healthcare.
Our family is infinitely indebted to one very amazing family who used their resources to help Avery to get seen in Omaha and essentially saved her.
The resources that led me to them are free of charge to families with OI. The Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation linked me with the group on Facebook that provides families of children with a support group. The OIF website also has a large assortment of medical information with notes on the variety of types, situations and treatment that OI families may encounter. This website was essential in saving Avery.
There are about 1,000 readers of this blog. Averys story has helped other families as well. Unfortunately, OI is still not well known. The OIF is working hard as a non-profit organization to get to the 2013 conference for the American Association of Pediatrics or AAP. This conference is CRUCIAL to help educate pediatricians about OI, treatment plans, options, how to recognize OI, therapies and resources.
They can't get the word out without your help. If every person reading this blog can donate $5 to the OIF for the AAP conference the word about OI will get out and education may prevent another family from enduring this nightmare.
Please feel free to donate in Averys name. Your employer may even match your donation and the OI website can do all the work for you!
The link to donate is: https://secure2.convio.net/oif/site/Donation2?idb=1099958665&DONATION_LEVEL_ID_SELECTED=1&df_id=1360&1360.donation=form1
If asked where your donation should be used please note that this donation is for the OIF' s AAP fund.
I will still update this blog with great, positive news and other life events.
THANK YOU ALL. Your faith, prayers, thoughts, encouragement and support helped carry our weight the past few months. We are forever going to remember this and pray we can help other families avoid and recover from this nightmare.

While we understand that not everyone is a believer in the innocence of a parent accused of child abuse, we would ask that you keep your comments respectful.
